MY TOP 10 ALBUMS 2007 / SITE UPDATES

So I should probably first of all point out this is definitely a bias and personal list of favourites from the past year. If I were to look at things with my review hat on things would be very different outside the top two. So without further ado here’s my top 10 albums of 2007…

1. Because of the Times - Kings of Leon
One of the best bands of the 21st Century. They are finally taking their place near the top leaving such bands as The Strokes and White Stripes behind them.

2. A Weekend in the City - Bloc Party
They’re our very own version of the Arcade Fire as they begin to take their blend of dark indie across the pond. This album has the finest lyrics of any this year and perhaps the last decade.

3. Pull the Pin – Stereophonics
The Welsh rockers are truly back on form after a couple of poor albums. This latest effort sees the band go back to their routes and make loud, rhythmic, guitar Britpop.

4. Our Love to Admire – Interpol
Somehow they still seem to be struggling to break into the mainstream in the UK. Our loss is the US’s gain as they stormed the American Billboard chart with this great follow up to one of the best albums of all time.

5. Puzzle – Biffy Clyro
Third time lucky for the Scott’s but boy was it was worth the wait. Each song brings something unique to the album and not one compromises their sound.

6. Chase This Light – Jimmy Eat World
7. Favourite Worst Nightmare – Arctic Monkeys
8. Once Upon a Time in the West – Hard-Fi
9. Minutes to Midnight – Linkin Park
10. My Conscience & I – Remi Nicole

Other good albums that have failed to make my personal list but are amongst the best releases this year and should definitely be checked out include:

Klaxons – Myths of the Near Future
Milburn – Well Well Well
The Pigeon Detectives – Wait For Me
Editors – An End Has a Start

==================================================================

Right now for some site updates. The new look front page is coming along nicely and assuming Rob isn't swamped under with reviews (chance would be a nice thing) it'll be up at the end of the week.

We also have a cool idea for the website header and I think I've got someone on bored to sort it out, should be very cool.

Finally changes to the blog. These are the very early stages but once some things are in place you won't have to come here for all news and competitions, rather just us whittling on.

That's it from me, hopefully it won't be another six months until my next entry, cheerio,

Will
