The Academy tonight seemed more like a youth club than a gig. The tiny room was crammed wall to wall with kids, each one of them sharing the same hairstyle.
Australian hardcore band I Killed The Prom Queen came to the stage dressed head-to-toe in BMTH merchandise, seeming more like excitable fans than their support act. This aside, they definitely wowed the crowd with devastatingly raw riffs, and music heavy enough to rock your gran's socks off.
Bring Me The Horizon are a band that have been criticised for putting style over substance. Oli tonight comes out dressed in a scruffy top and ripped jeans, almost giving the finger to those who tarred his band with this label.
As the powerful metalcore sounds of Medusa kicks in, the ear-splitting sound of the crowd chanting for the band is soon drained out.
A cover of Slipknot's Eyeless is an impressive surprise cover from the band, and they really did it justice. Playing the classics Rawwwr and Off the Heezay, BMTH tonight really prove they've got talent, churning out such technical riffs and music made to mosh to.
Oli's finishing line seemed quite ironic inviting those "old enough to party" out with the band that evening.
Love them or hate them, Bring Me The Horizon aren't just an annoying emo band aimed at 14 year olds. Give them a listen; you could be in for a shock.
