The anticipation of tonight's sold out crowd is immense.
Mile-long queues appearing three hours before the doors of the tiny venue are even opened, and herds of Stone Sour fanatics racing for the front as soon as they are.
I'm sure the bar has never made such profits as it did tonight, metal fans surrounding it for their fix of Jagermeister before Corey Taylor and his crew grace the stage.
Forever Never are the first band to kick this gig into gear, creating a mass of mosh pits with their complicated metal riffs, and are a band you should definitely keep an eye our for in the future. They couldn't put it better themselves; Beautiful, but Brutal.
Flyleaf seem to be a weird choice of support act on Stone Sour's part, appearing as a "not-so-great-Evanescence-tribute-band", especially considering Corey Taylor's recent 'punch up' with goth-girl Amy Lee. They do try and impress the crowd and seem to keep the kids entertained, but the bar seems to do a better job of entertaining through this set.
Thank God, when the moment arrives, the moment the 2,700 strong, now rather drunken crowd has been waiting for. The powerful riff of 30-30 150 begins, and the crowd goes wild.
The lights come on to reveal the band; most people for a split second becoming more bothered about Corey Taylor’s shaven head than anything. The opening song revs up the crowd effortlessly, Corey's interaction with the crowd making this an unforgetable gig for everyone present.
They play some classics, Reborn, Made of Scars and Through the Glass - to which Corey says is their "most amazing performance of the song yet", after a year of doing so. The Crowd are LOVING it.
Strangely, Sweet Home Alabama is the band's next choice of the song, which even more strangely, is the best-received song of the night, everyone knowing each and every word, and a sea of lighters filling the venue.
Topping off the gig with metal classic Get Inside ends the gig perfectly... just when the crowd looked as if they couldn’t take anymore, mosh pits appeared like never before.
Stone Sour really have played flawless gig that both the crowd and them will never forget. What a night.
