Name one English male R&B singer who hasn't been mocked by Avid Merrion in an array of rubber masks.
No? Well, that is all set to change as Taio Cruz assaults the UK charts.
Since the turn of the 21st century, there has been a tradition of R&B producers stepping out of the shadows to become stars in their own right, and Taio Cruz isn’t about to shunt that one just yet. Come On Girl is a cracking up-tempo Timbaland- inspired club-track.
After an onslaught of mediocre American R&B acts, Cruz is throwing down a hefty British gauntlet with this track - everything from the catchy-as-hell chorus, to the 22 seconds of pure unadulterated filth that pours out of Luciana Caporaso's mouth oozes pop credentials.
If Fearne Cotton doesn't utter his name at 6.50pm on Sunday evening, there is no justice in the world. Craig David had better hold on to his cornrows and Bowie samples with this one - Taio Cruz is certainly slicker than your average!
