Mexicolas
Shame

Time to rock out! Yeah!!

A proper prime slice of long-haired, foot-on-monitor guitar rocking from guys who sound like a good ol’ fashioned American rock band from Sunset Strip, who are actually from, erm… Birmingham.

Nothing against Birmingham - they’ve produced Black Sabbath and also had says in The Streets and The Twang more recently (for better or worse, depending on your preference). It’s just when you start believing that a guy from the UK can seem like a Chris Cornell pass off is when you need to take a step back and think about the predicament.

Back in 2004, The Glitterati and The Ga Ga’s tried to kick-start a Guns ‘n’ Roses revolution, with big riffs and bad-ass posturing, but their posturing wasn’t good then, and their songs weren’t a hell of a lot better either.

Luckily, the Mexicolas are a step above the rest. Like The Answer, Shame shows they’ve got the right levels of rock and roll, and haven’t tried to be absolute cocks along the way.

This three-piece are really worth checking out – even their rock n roll endings aren’t totally pretentious. It’s a real, truthful selection of anthems that we can all enjoy.
