Verb T & The Last Skeptik
Satisfied

It is always intensely encouraging to see the quality that is constantly being filtered through from the UK, in various forms and styles.

Filtering down from the established figureheads like Roots Manuva and Skinnyman to the sprightlier acts of Sway, it just keeps coming.

Now it’s the time for one of Sway’s mates in the guise of The Last Skeptik to aim for the heights of success. And with his intensely genius skateboard beats and samples towering above the chaff with Verb T providing the lyrical groove, it’s only up for the duo.

Title track Satisfied is backed up with speeded up crooning over looping pianos and hi-hats as Verb T dismays over the drug addiction that can easily grip human beings during their lifetime.

The only drawback to the meaningful tune is how Verb’s raps sometime get lost in the beat and has the potential in the chorus lines to become slightly too monotone in patches. It does pave the way though for the B-sides that really are a cut above.

March brings the aggression levels up a tiny patch, with giant drum beats kicking down the door whilst Sway himself lays his style all over the shop, with his quick-witted metaphors and smooth rap stance complimenting Verb T and Kyza throughout with neck-breaking results.

The finale provides the icing on the cake. Put ‘em on Ice is a massive delight.

From the beats that Jazzy Jeff would find hard to break, to the lyrical content that stays on the right side of brilliant by providing a down-to-earth glance at day-to-day stresses and celebrations, it’s a genuine summertime groove.

It’s easy to be impressed by this three-track, and for good reason. Hunt it down now.
